Many people turn to yoga as a way to stretch their muscles and feel relaxed and at peace. There are many types of yoga sessions you can attend, from hot yoga to hip hop yoga, that is suited for all kinds of people. But here, one yoga instructor in Australia is completely changing the game— by teaching an all nude yoga class.
Naked yoga.A 30-year-old woman from Australia is taking the yoga world by storm with her naked yoga classes. The classes are for women only and are meant to encourage women to love their bodies, no matter what shape or size.
Confident.According to the Daily Mail UK, Rosie Rees hopes that her yoga classes will not only help women have better sex lives but also be more confident with themselves. Rees says that among the class’s many benefits, women have also reported getting better sleep following a class.
Catalyst. It’s not about doing the downward dog naked… it’s about self-acceptance, stepping out of the comfort zone and cultivating courage. I’d say it’s a catalyst. Nude yoga is such a courageous thing to do but when these women leave my classes, they feel comfortable in their own skin, said Rees, as reported by the Daily Mail UK.
Expectations.Because of the high expectations that society has for women, it can be hard to feel good about yourself. As a result, women are constantly putting themselves down and thinking that they’re not good enough.
Meditation. We do meditation, everyone talks about why they are here – the stories are very healing – and then we do a one-hour nude yoga session. If you have body image issues or a repulsion about coming in, these classes will help you overcome these challenges, says Rees, as reported by the Daily Mail UK.
Therapy.So where exactly did the idea of doing naked yoga come from? It all started when Rees decided to start doing naked yoga in her own backyard. Once she realized how much good it did for her, she decided she wanted to teach others about its therapeutic effects.
Insecure. The first time I did naked yoga, I felt insecure and judgmental about my own body. I felt embarrassed, uncomfortable and shameful. ‘But the more I did it, the more comfortable I felt in my own skin. I realized how much impact this would bring to a group setting, said Rees.
Journey.Rees has had quite the journey in yoga and says that just four years ago she was working in a corporate office. However, one day she decided to quit her job and open up her own yoga studio.
Happier.I’ve become a happier, more calm and relaxing person. Yoga has helped every aspect of my life. It even kicked my bad habits like drinking and smoking. I get a natural high from yoga, said Rees, as reported by the Daily Mail UK.
